about the owner / education
my name is maria elena salgado, i am the owner of design society, llc. a graphic designer + licensed esthetician. i feel so lucky to be able to do my two favorite things for a living. having grade 3 acne in middle school, i learned to start paying attention to my skin and the products i was using. i became very strict with my skin routine and got more and more interested in the beauty field. i was introduced to graphic design in high school and really took an interest in designing. i went to college and got my bachelors in graphic design with a minor in public relations. i worked the field for 2 years before deciding to get my esthetician license and open my own business.

as a graphic designer, i view the world as a canvas and pay attention to detail. and being an esthetician, i view the world the very same way. being an esthetician gives me the opportunity to continue to design, but in a different medium. i'm able to enhance a persons appearance - whether it's by treating the skin, waxing the skin, or enhancing the eyes with lash extensions. that's the beauty of design, design is everywhere.

i hope when people look at my work and get to know me as a person, they see how passionate i am in what i do. i don't put in minimal effort, i put my all into everything i do.

education background includes: bachelor degree in graphic design + minor in pubic relations from carthage '18.
licensed esthetician + certified in: clinical aesthetics, professional makeup artistry, eye lash extensions (classic, hybrid, volume, and mega volume), lash lift + tint, chemical exfoliation, microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, and brow lamination.
services
lash extensions
please come with no contacts, no makeup on, and try wearing no mascara 2 days prior to your appointment. lash baths are included but if you have makeup on, you will lose time with your appointment and be charged an additional $10 fee for makeup removal. transitional sets (ex: switching from hybrid to volume) will be an additional $10. mini fills are only available up to 7 days from your initial appointment. anything after 3 weeks or less than 40% of lash extensions will be charged as a new set. for lash after care, click here.
facials
to purchase glymed plus products from your facial, click here. (you will need to register before buying.)
waxing
hair has to be at least 1/4-inch long. for waxing aftercare, click here.

by making an appointment, you are agreeing to design society's terms of service.
booking
all services are by appointment only. please message me through instagram, facebook, or text message to book.

there is a non-refundable deposit: $35 for lashes, $35 for facial services, $10 for waxing, and $35 for brow services. please inquire for graphic design services. all deposits will go towards your service.
​
if you cancel your appointment 48 hours before your appointment, you will be allowed to reschedule one time. if you are 10 minutes late or cancel the day before, you will be asked to reschedule with a new deposit.
​
booking two services and cancelling one of the services day of the appointment will require full payment for both services. (ex: booking a fill with a facial and cancelling the facial at the time of the appointment.)
​
no show/no calls will be required to pay 100% upfront to book again.
payment
deposits must be paid through cash, venmo, cashapp, apple pay or credit card to secure your appointment. if you are paying with cash, please pay in exact amount.
​
all services/retail items are final sale. if you believe you might have a reaction to lash extensions, please book a patch test first.

prior to appointment
please refrain from wearing mascara 24 hours before your appointment if you are getting a lash service done.

to save time please fill out consent forms which can be found here.

if you are more than 10 minutes late, you will be asked to reschedule with a new deposit.

please come by yourself, no extra guests or kids are allowed.
​
feel free to bring a blanket during your appointment but please note i will not be responsible for any damages or items left behind. for facial and lash services - please come with clean lashes and no makeup on. if you have makeup on, you will lose time on your appointment and be charged an additional $10 fee to remove.
covid-19
please reschedule your appointment if you are experiencing any symptoms such as: fever/chills, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, loss of taste/smell, cough, muscle/body ache, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea/vomiting, and diarrhea.
